Positive Supports Program

Philosophy

The underlining philosophy of DADD and its Positive Supports Program is that all people should be treated with dignity and respect – that all people can, want and will learn and develop – that people are entitled to experience enriching and nurturing environments where this development as well as dignity and respect can be cultivated and that all behavior is unique to each individual and serves a purpose or function which should be respected.

Purpose and Goals

The purpose of the Positive Supports Program is to provide enriching, safe and nurturing environments and professional and positive care where people develop while learning to engage with others in effective and appropriate ways. The program strives to provide ideal circumstances for individuals to grow and develop, provide a variety of meaningful and enriching experiences, keep program participants free from harm and intimidation, and to assist program participants to develop effective and acceptable replacement or alternative conduct for problematic behavior.
